FDU’s Chad Timberlake Taken In First Round Of USBL Draft (4/12/2006 )
The Brooklyn Kings
didn’t stray too far from home, selecting 6-4 Fairleigh Dickinson senior
guard, Chad Timberlake (Brooklyn,
NY/New Utrecht) with
the final pick of the first round. The 6-4 guard averaged 15.2 ppg to
lead the team along with 5.5 rpg.
The unanimous
Northeast Conference Player of the Year was outstanding during FDU’s
stretch run that featured an 11-game
winning streak and win
over UW-Green Bay in an eBay BracketBusters pool game. During the
streak, Timberlake averaged 18.8
ppg, 6.2 rpg and 4.2
apg to help stake his unanimous claim to league MVP honors.
Timberlake, who earned
Associated Press All-America Honorable Mention honors, finished the
2005-06 season as the league’s
third leading active
scorer with 1,391 points, which also ranks him as FDU’s ninth all-time
scorer. He is seventh in program
history in field goals
made (446), sixth in all-time assists (348) and third all-time with 151
steals.

Chad is a very talented
point guard with good physical size and toughness. Chad is a floor
general with excellent court vision and he is a natural team leader. He
can play fast break style or he can set up an offense with set plays,
whatever is needed to win. He is an extremely athletic guard and gets to
the rim, always finishing hard, he is able to take over games with his
scoring and jumping ability. Chad plays intense defense and likes to
disrupt offenses with his aggression on defense creating many steals,
and he is the type of guard that can score, dish assists and rebound. He
makes his teammates better because of how hard he works and how much he
wants to win and will put up stats to make sure that happens to take
over any game. Chad has a very high basketball IQ and is extremely hard
working. He is a born leader and catalyst for team motivation. Chad is a
true professional on and off the court. He is very coachable and would
be a very valuable team leader for any club.
